Deva (Surya Sivakumar) arrives at the Chennai International Airport after running an errand for Arumuga Dass (Prabhu Ganesan) of smuggling pre-release pirated movies on DVD. The two leave for their hideout and instruct Dilli (Karunas), a hearing-impaired assistant of Dass, to make copies of the DVD. Just when police crews arrive into their vicinity, Dass informs Deva and the rest to leave. Deva tells the others to leave while he quickly sets up the burning process. Deva also leaves the hideout just in time. However, the police officers arrive at the hideout, only to see the burning process of the DVDs complete. The police then seize the DVDs and computers. The inspector, who was a friend of Dass, tells him that he can close the case if one of Dass's men agrees to the crime. Deva attempts to go, but another man, Chitti (Jegan), who had no affiliation to them volunteers, takes the blame. Later, Chitti joins Dass's group. Dass is a diamond trafficker who smuggles diamonds from Africa. Deva's mother Kaveri (Renuka) does not appreciate his affairs with Dass, as she wants Deva, who holds a Master of Science degree, to have a government job. He occasionally visits home and her roadside grocery shop, only to get scoldings from his loving mother. In the meantime, Dass and his crew of Deva, Dilli and Chitti are opposed by Kamalesh (Akashdeep Saighal). He tries to contest Dass's smuggling businesses by stealing diamonds that Deva smuggles. He also tries to bribe Dass's clients who help him in his business. Dass's success could not be digested by Kamalesh. In this effort, he begins to smuggle narcotics. Deva and Chitti travel to the high cliffs of Congo where the smuggling business takes place. The two receive the diamonds and leave to their lodge where they pack up to get back to India. As Deva gets ready to take a shower, a Congo prostitute tries to lead Chitti into having sex. An elated Chitti falls for the woo but is caught by Deva. He tells the prostitute to leave. He then notices his bag opened and finds out that the diamonds are missing. He chases after the prostitute who leads him into a group of other robbers who toss the packet of diamonds around, which Deva fights for. He chases them through the slums, until he sees Chitti being threatened with a knife by another robber. Deva saves Chitti and retrieves the packet of diamonds and heads home to India. Deva ready to knock out one of the thieves in the Congo.Chitti takes Deva with him to a place he calls "home." Deva enters the house, only to find that it is a brothel with other prostitutes who try to assault Deva. He quickly leaves the place with Chitti. Deva is later taken to another place by Chitti, which Deva fears would be another brothel. Deva fears the women in the house and tries to look for Chitti and knocks on a room, in which he hears noises of a young woman. Deva, impatient, breaks open the door, only to find a young girl named Yamuna (Tamanna Bhatia) changing her dress. Not minding the freaked out Yamuna, Deva searches for Chitti in the room. Deva later finds out that the people in the house was Chitti's real family this time after seeing a family photo. He is also introduced to Yamuna by Chitti, who is Yamuna's elder brother. Yamuna, despite the prior conflict, finds Deva to be amusing. During a visit to Deva's electronics store in Burma Bazaar, Yamuna and Deva flirt, amid Chitti who later further explains about one another to each other. Chitti finds out that the two are finally in love and wholeheartedly accepts it. In the meantime, Kamalesh tries to bribe one of Dass's local clients, without success. The client phones and tells Dass about Kamalesh knowing about their dealing and warns him to keep it a secret, as there might be someone close to Dass leaking their details. Just then, Dass suspects it might be Dilli. Chitti and Deva bring in a truck load of gold, hidden in bread. After that, Chitti tells everyone that it is Deva's birthday. A surprised Dass tells Deva to go out and enjoy himself. Chitti takes Deva to his house, only to find Yamuna alone. The two make out and Chitti accidentally walks inside with disgust. Chitti hands over two cinema tickets to Deva and tells them to go out, have fun and not return till midnight. Deva, who remembered that he had to meet his mother at a temple for a birthday puja, leaves with Yamuna. On their way, Deva spots his mother and hides Yamuna. Deva and his mother go into the temple and pray, while Yamuna nags Deva behind his mother. An abrupt police raid at their hideout is reported by Dass. Deva asks where Chitti went but Dass responds telling him he does not know. Deva leaves his mother and Yamuna and phones Chitti for help. Chitti responds, telling Deva that his mother had an accident and is admitted in hospital. Deva becomes shocked, however he sees his own mother coming out of an autorickshaw safely. A confused Deva asks Chitti whose mother it was who had an accident. Chitti, hiding nearby, tells him that it was Deva's who had an accident. Deva finds out this was a lie and Chitti spots Deva and his mother nearby. Deva, without further ado, runs back to Dass's hideout and helps clean the place up. Deva decides to hide the smuggled gold in a nearby train car. He hides the gold successfully and the police raid is over. Deva and Yamuna flirt on their phones while Chitti acknowledges their mischief.Deva angrily goes to Chitti's house and asks him why he lied. In a turn of events, Chitti admits that he was originally sent to Dass's gang by Kamalesh to report back all of Dass's businesses and details to Kamalesh. The two fight as Yamuna arrives. Deva, in his anger, accuses Yamuna of seducing him for her brother's cause. He breaks up his friendship with Chitti, thus breaking up with Yamuna. Dass and Dilli come to know the betrayal of Chitti. When Yamuna tries to speak to Deva, he neglects her. Yamuna leaves and Deva runs back and tries to calm her. But Yamuna decides to break up with him too for his arrogance, feeling betrayed by him. In the meantime, Kamalesh blindfolds a few individuals and makes them swallow packets of heroin to store in their stomachs and secretly transport them for smuggling. Chitti, Kamalesh's henchman, does the same. The group boards a flight to Malaysia in which Deva is also aboard. Chitti sits beside Deva, who still dislikes Chitti. During the travel, Chitti accidentally vomits out one of his heroin packets and it falls on the ground. He dips the packet in water and swallows it again. Deva sees this and notices that he is part of drug smuggling. After the flight, Deva notices Chitti acting very odd due to the intoxication of the heroin, which must have leaked out from the packet. Chitti falls to the ground and Deva decides to help him out. He sprinkles some alcohol on Chitti to make it appear that he is drunk. He safely takes him through the airport checking. Kamalesh's advocates in Malaysia try to take over Chitti and take him away. Deva pushes them away and takes Chitti away in his friend's taxi. Deva phones Kamalesh and tells him to order his men to leave alone Chitti, as he must be admitted to hospital. Through Kamalesh's speech, Deva learns that Kamalesh does not fear about Chitti's life and only wants the packets of heroin to be safe. Deva decides to take Chitti to the doctor himself. In the car, Chitti tells Deva that although he had to betray Dass, he was still a truthful friend to Deva. They arrive at the doctor's office, only to see the doctor deny treatment as he fears he might be in trouble for treating a smuggler. Just then, the Malaysian gang kidnaps Chitti and takes him away. Deva chases the gang down and he gets caught between the impact of the gang's van in an accident, leaving Deva injured and fainted. Moments later, Deva gets out of the car and searches for Chitti. He then sees Chitti being dissected alive by the gang to take out the packets of heroin out of his stomach. Deva beats up the gang and the men leave. He returns to Chitti, who is on the verge of death. Moments after they shed tears, Chitti passes away. Confiscating Chitti's mobile phone and passport, Deva burns the dead body along with the packets of heroin. This was recorded by one of the hiding gang members and sent back to Kamalesh. Deva and Yamuna prior to their conflict.In India, Kamalesh frames Deva and tells Chitti's family members that Deva burned Chitti alive. Deva tries to defend himself, with no success. When he arrives home, he is arrested by the police for alleged murder of Chitti. In the meantime, Yamuna goes through Chitti's phone to see a recorded video. She shows the video, which shows Chitti recording the Malaysian gang dissecting him and their conversation with Kamalesh, to the police officer. The corrupt officer informs this to Kamalesh and has no choice but to release Deva, who was beaten up by the cops. As he is released, Yamuna learns Deva's true character and the two get back together again. On another errand for Dass, a woman at the Chennai airport gives Deva a bag of medicine for Deva to give to the woman's elderly mother who forgot to take it with her. Eager to help, Deva takes the bag. Just then, he is taken away with Inspector Parthiban (Ponvannan), an airport security officer who usually checks Deva for smuggling. He inspects the bag of medicine and finds that it is cocaine hidden in capsules. Parthiban accuses Deva for smuggling, but Deva denies and vows to show him who is really behind the smuggling of the cocaine. Parthiban announces all passengers in the waiting room to serve themselves with free refreshments. He shows Parthiban the individuals who are henchmen of Kamalesh, seated in the Airport's waiting room who are not willing to eat the refreshments. Quickly, x-ray tests are performed on them and the capsules of drugs are found in their stomachs. Parthiban leaves Deva off the hook, who decides to stay back and take care of helping Parthiban expose the misconduct of Kamalesh. With the help of Yamuna, Deva and Parthiban secretly impose a mic system in Kamalesh's house to record his conversations with his comrades to locate and seize illegal drugs that arrive in airline cargo. They sit in a van outside his house, which has antenna systems to listen to the codes he reads on his phone. While Kamalesh speaks on his phone, he notices static noises through the phone when he brings a mic near it. He discovers that he is being listened to secretly and changes topic. He goes outside and spots Deva's and Parthiban's hideout van and drops an ignited match in the gas tank. The van explosion was luckily escaped ahead of time by Deva and Parthiban who already knew Kamalesh had found out. Back in Kaveri's store, Yamuna is a customer, asking for products. While Deva and Yamuna flirt to themselves, Kaveri who sees this from aside comes to know about their relationship and accepts their love. As Kaveri and Deva go inside to speak about Yamuna, one of Kamalesh's men try to run out of the house. Deva then spots another one of Kamalesh's men drop a match of fire from above onto a gas tank. Before the match could reach the gas tank, Deva saves his mother from the explosion in his house, only to have injuries on his back from the fire. Dass takes Deva with him and confronts Kamalesh and tries to peace things out by offering him the identification note of the diamond smuggling business to him. Kamalesh pretends to be nice and says no to the offer. As Deva and Dass leave in their van, Kamalesh approaches from the side. Deva and Dass learn that one of their wheels are unscrewed and the van loses its wheel. As a oiler tank approaches their out-of-control van, Dass pushes Deva out of the van to save him and gets killed in the deadly accident and explosion with the oiler tank. Dass's client who purchases the diamonds demands Deva to get him back his diamonds, which Kamalesh is now taking over. Deva goes to take revenge on Kamalesh. After an intense battle, Kamalesh falls off the high cliffs of the Congo and Deva retrieves the diamonds. When he returns to India, he is again inspected by Parthiban. Deva learns that it was his mother this time who exposed his smuggling mission. He has no choice but to surrender the diamonds, and so he does. Parthiban hands Deva to sign a form, which Deva hesitates. He then learns that is a government security job application form. Parthiban says that Deva's criminal mind is required for such a job. The film ends on a happy note as Deva leaves the airport with his mother and Yamuna.
